About the club : Kumamoto's first exchange was with Georgia in 1984. It is the oldest club in the island of Kyushu. Every year Kumamoto has 1 or 2 inbound exchanges and 1 outbound. The club is located in Kumamoto City, which has a population of about 800,000. Our club has about 100 members.
About the region : Kumamoto Prefecture is located in the middle of Kyushu, one of the four main islands of Japan. Kumamoto is a unique place in Japan. It is blessed with the natural beauty of Amakusa ; a shoreline dotted with some 120 islands reaching out into the East China Sea and the Aso area a wide-open volcanic plain. In addition Kumamoto has cultural resources such as Honmyoji Temple, Kumamoto Castle, and Suizenji Park, one of the six most beautiful gardens in Japan.
